The movies these books are based on were released during a time period when we didn't have a youngster to take to them...

...since my own sons were grown and our grandson wasn't born until 2008, and I'll be honest, I wasn't familiar with any of them. The five books included in this set are Finding Nemo (based on the 2003 movie, which the American Film Institute ranked as the #10 American animated film of all time!), Cars (based on the 2006 movie), Ratatouille (based on the 2007 movie), WALL-E (based on the 2008 movie), and Up (based on the 2009 movie). When our grandson was just shy of 3 years old, he completely fell in love with "Cars 2", which we enjoyed right along with him, but we really wanted him to also experience Disney's older movies as well. We recognized that our budget wouldn't stretch far enough to cover a DVD collection, but a collection of Little Golden Books based on all of the old movies was doable. Though this particular set doesn't include any of the old classics Grandpa & I remember from our youth, we wanted a complete collection of books based on Disney's animated films, from 1937's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs all the way to the present, so this was a nice set of some of the more recent films. Reading abbreviated versions of the movies obviously isn't the same as "being there" to watch an entire feature film, but at least it gives him a "taste" (and gives US the crib notes versions of the movies we hadn't seen as well.) I babysat our grandson from the time he was a newborn until he started all-day kindergarten this past fall, he LOVES reading/being read to, and it's really been fun to share all of these stories with him for the first time. Little Golden Books typically retail for $3.99 a piece, so we felt we got a good deal on Amazon with a $15.60 price, especially since our order qualified for free shipping - that equated to about $3.12 per book. All of these books will get a lot of use - I now babysit my younger grandson who's not quite 2 but will be growing into them soon, and was given the happy news just recently that a third grandchild will arrive in September - reading is such a great way to bond with grandkids!

Who doesn't love Golden Books!

Nice little collection of the Disney/Pixar Golden books. Some of the books are a little different then how the Disney movies are made but it was a nice for a little change. =D Overall it was an excellent addition to our book collection.

It must have been hard to compress 2 hour films into short stories but they pulled it off well, hitting al of the high points. Great buy and our kids love them. I love the retro animation, so cute!
