Finally, an empowered princess!
By M. Talalay
Caution: There is a scary mean guy in this story, as in all Disney stories. He's less scary in print than on screen.

Kiwi Magazine Review:
Disney's newest Princess has alot of pluck. She's not the type to sit around and wait for a prince or nap for years. Nonetheless, Tiana is a strong and confidant woman with alot of ambition and a great role model for girls. She still has the trademark Disney impossibly small waist and gigantic doe eyes, but this is a princess of substance. Can't wait to see the movie!

My Little Princesses Loved It
By M. Dumas
I bought this to read with my 4 year-old before the movie came out. I figured she'd be more excited by the movie and understand what was going on better if we had read the story first. That worked and she loved both reading it with me at night and watching the movie.

My 10 year-old step-daughter picked it up next. She is a reluctant reader in general, but she loved the movie and was excited about being able to re-live it. She read the whole thing cover to cover without any encourage from us which is a big deal for her.

In the mean-time my 4 (almost 5) year-old's reading skills have improved and she has begun to read it to herself over the last few days. In short, we're getting a lot of use out of this little book. A very good buy.

Princess and the Frog by N'Dia
By A Customer
I would recommend Princess and the Frog to be a wonderful book. This book is about a girl who will do whatever it takes to make her dreams come true. But while she is trying to make her dream come true, she gets in a Froggy situation.

Along the way, the princess meets a lightning bug named Ray, and an alligator named Louis. She also runs into the handsome prince Nuveen. I believe that princess Tiana is teaching all young ladies and gentleman that you can do anything if you believe you can.

This book is one of the only books to tell about a Disney princess that is African American. If you would like to read this book you can go to any local library. Thanks for reading my review! N'Dia

Excellent Book-Not for the U12 Set
By Jaime L.
Greg Gatz is the director of strength and conditioning programs for Olympic sports at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, the home of the women's soccer program that's far and away won more Division I championships than any other women's soccer team. It's the place where Hamm and many other notable women players went to school. In other words, the school's record is a tribute to Greg's work. He develops a summer conditioning program for the players, evaluates them in pre-season and post-season and, of course, runs their strength training.

This book is usefu, in particular, for the high school athlete and coach, or older (collegiate) players and coaches. As one other reviewer noted, there's a lot of reading. Yep. But understanding the "why" of the exercises and the conditioning program are important, too. For younger players, time with the ball is a better way to spend time than conditioning.

For those simply looking for a conditioning checklist and don't care to understand the physiology involved, just Google "UNC Summer Conditioning Program." Again, for younger players, and many older ones, playing UNC's 1v1 to cones game will work wonders. F

For the coach or evaluator, or self-motivated older players, this is a great resource, along with Jens Bangsbo's book on soccer fitness.

Soccer training and conditioning guide
By Lenka Brown
This book is lots of reading and not very practicall to take to the park and workout. Would preffer less reading and more practical sheets or cards to take with you for guideance. All the workouts are great, but little overwhelming for mom to take and train her kids, memorizing it all. What I would preffer planner like style book, with takeaway pages and plan for the whole year, so the progress could be recorded as well.

Kevin’s knowledge and skill as a naturalist show through in each trail description as he shares insight on the plants, animals, geology, conservation, and cultural history that make each trail special. He has chosen trails that highlight the diverse landscapes and natural features of Missouri. Many of the routes traverse designated Missouri Natural Areas. I have been enjoying canoeing, kayaking, and camping in Missouri all my life, but every page of this book told me something I didn't know about my favorite state. This book is guaranteed to make the reader start making trip plans. This is a great gift book because it is a catalyst to further adventure.

This book is much more than just a hiking guide.
By A Customer
This wonderful book is "a must," not just for hikers but also for nature lovers. More than an accurate and detailed guide, the book affords readers lush visual imagery through the descriptions of a skilled writer who, without doubt, loves the trails he treads.

Missouri Hiker
By Ozark Naturalist
I was very impressed with the author's first issue of "Hiking Missouri." The observations he made, based on his natural history background, easily oriented the hiker to what was special about the area, why it was special, and where to find it. His book on 102 hikes spread throughout Missouri had surpassed all previous publications by other authors for quality and detail until now. With this new edition, the author not only added 25 more interesting hikes, he also updated the hikes from his original book. This extra effort is extremely important because there is nothing more frustrating than using an outdated book where the information may not be as reliable due to trail changes or closures.

My only nit about the book, and it is a small one, is that I wish the publisher had put the state map, with all the trail locations, ahead of the trail chart for a little easier orientation.

The author has put a lot of time and effort in producing this definitive hiking guide to the state of Missouri. For those that want to have a quality outdoor experience, this book is a must.
