Great for children of all ages

My wife and I bought this for our 4 month old daughter and she she doesn't read yet but she loves listening to us read it while staring at the pictures and turning the pages if we are reading too slow. Also, who doesn't love 626?

Introducing Stitch

The story of how Stitch came to earth and became a part of Lilo's family. He happens along just in time to become Lilo's pet. Suddenly Lilo and her older sister, Nani, have a lot of troubles at the same time which is compounded by the appearance of social worker Cobra Bubbles. Nani, having lost her job and unable to leave Lilo alone, goes on job interviews which don't turn out too well. David, a friend of Nani's finds her a job, but then Lilo gets captured by the bounty hunter, Captain Gantu who thinks he has Stitch and is returning to their planet. Stitch, Nani and David help straighten out the mess and get Lilo back on earth. Then Lilo's family comes to include: her sister, David, Stitch, Cobra Bubbles, Jumba, and Pleakley. And as Lilo says, "ohana means family.... family means nobody gets left behind."

One star for the nice pictures

I have had the pleasure of seeing the film upon which this book is based; it is a simply delightful story about an alien refugee which lands on Earth and poses as a little girl's pet to escape his pursuers, causing all sorts of trouble. This book managed to take that plot and turn it into a very bland experience.
Disney's Lilo and Stitch: A Read-aloud Storbook is a prime example of why you should never buy something that was obviously made just for merchandising's sake. Imagine a the script for a children's movie condensed down and simplified into a very tedious play-by-play prose: that is exactly how this storybook reads. I can picture the author rushing to finish in time for the deadline as I read. The best thing that I can say about it is that the illustrations are nice, mainly because they appear to be taken from movie stills.
If you believe that children's books should not only be excellent visually but rich and varied in the use of language as well, there are much better alternatives to this one. I will not be buying any more Disney books for my children.
